Sugar Rush and a Good Week of Riding

I am sipping on a drink that reminds me of my childhood. As a kid, I loved the delicious, sugary but unhealthy cereals. One of my favorites was Captain Berry Crunch.  However, my new Starbucks’ drink isn’t for coffee lovers because there happens to be no coffee in the drink.  But, if you love those sweet sugary cereals like I do, you'll absolutely fall in love with this.  It’s a strawberry crème with 1 pump of hazelnut flavoring and 1 pump of toffee nut :) It is one great tasty sugar rush that taste exactly like the Captain Berry Crunch cereal.

Monday was a holiday so we didn't ride.

Tuesday we went on the track but all we did was jog. I was riding Marble who had been off for a week due to a sore hoof. This was his first time back on the track so he was jumping all over the place with excitement. Because of this I was led around by the pony. It was quite fun but very painful for me. Whenever the pony would drift away and then come back to Marble’s side my foot would get crushed between the pony and my horse. There is nothing one can do but endure the pain.  I might as well get used to it because almost every horse gets ponied to the starting gate before a race.

Wednesday, Marble had settled down and was able to jog him by myself.  I couldn’t make him gallop because he was still recovering from his sore.

Thursday, I had an awesome ride on Frankie (the filly that runs with her head up). I was able to get her to drop her head by burying my hands down into her neck. On the second ride, I rode the pony and ponied someone around the track....it was different but kind of fun.  I still would have preferred to gallop.

Friday, was our breeze day where we get to let the horses go fast :) I love this day! It is such an adrenaline rush!  I was riding Frankie and we were supposed to go two laps.  The first was supposed to be a slow gallop and the second was supposed to be a strong gallop.  Everything started off good, but then she got away from me halfway through our 1st lap.  We went a little faster than we were supposed to, but overall it was a decent ride.

Have a fab week!

If the jockey thing doesn't work out, you could always find a job on the Food network. Love from the Hodels.
